Coppice: periodically cut a tree back to ground level to stimulate growth.
Pollard: cut off the top and branches of a tree to encourage new growth at the top.
Drat, I meant to publish this to ‘In The Apple Tree’, but now it is here I will keep it up and add to it when I find some examples to photograph and post along with these scant words.
