Whimsical photos! Do you happen to know the breed? Are they just kept, or ever sold for market?

They are a rare breed – Red Poll – “a cross between Norfolk Red beef cattle and Suffolk Dun dairy cattle”. And it’s painful to say it, but they are for meat.

Check the link I sent David, it may ease your pain to know they’re known as the only truly ‘Dual Purpose’ breed of Cattle – both Meat and Dairy – and VERY highly prized for it: )

I was walking with a friend last week and he mentioned that Homer described cows and dark wine like the sea (I may be mis-stating what he said, so forgive me if I get it wrong). My friend pointed out the rippling backs of the cows, like small waves on a calm sea – and dark wine in colour.
