It Came From Planet Gherkin

the-gherkin

This is the Gherkin building in the City of London, overshadowing one of the many churches in the area.

For those not familiar with the ‘City’, it is a small area within London that encompasses the financial district.

  1. I’m English and live about 30 minutes from London. I never knew ‘City of London’ referred to just the financial bit!!!!

    1. Yes, me too. I love learning new things. One thing about the City is that there’s a weird distinction in the spelling.

There’s the ‘city of London’ (the whole of London) and the ‘City of London’ with a capital ‘C’ that’s just the square mile or so around the financial district.
