It’s built on the plug of a volcano. I remember seeing a mock-up of the volcano as it would have been 350 million years ago, and what is left now is a pimple compared to what it once was.

I stayed in the youth hostel across the street from the castle several times and Old Town Edinburgh is one of my favorite cities. This is a beautiful photo.

Yes the Old Town is special. The first time I saw the upper part of the High Street we were passing on the bus. I looked up at the drama of the buildings and instantly felt the place was special.
