Art In The Garden – City Art Museum Edinburgh

We caught this exhibition by chance a couple of days ago. There were some very interesting pictures, but what caught my eye was the room itself with its rich wooden floor.

I tried a shot using the Pro HDR app on my iPhone and I like the way it came out.

One of the things I have noticed about the Pro HDR app is that it works best when there is a good contrast range, artificial lighting, or a substantial part of the scene that is fairly dark.

I am not very keen on what it does to the green part of the spectrum (so not very good for landscapes), but I like how it deals with the orange and red part of the spectrum.

    I’m now the proud owner of an iPhone too [finally]. This is my first Apple product ever, and it feels I have a lot to learn.

    I want to learn how to take nice pictures with it … like yours here. Going to find out about that app you mentioned …how much it costs.

      Great! I am looking forward to seeing your photos.

      One of the great things about the photo apps is that they are cheap – I don’t think anything I bought is over $5.00

      I have a number of photo apps (mostly free) that I just don’t use. I’ll let you know what they are – at least you might want to take a look and decide for yourself. 🙂

    Had to come back and look at this photo again. I find I get so much noise in my iPhone photos, and I sometimes seem to have a problem with the focus thing.

      What camera app are you using? Is it the built in camera or something else?

      The sensor is pretty small, so there should be lots of depth of field with more or less everything from front to back in focus.

      So I don’t know what is going on if you are having problems with the focus.

      Are you using the zoom? I almost never use it because it is a digital zoom. Therefore it is not really zooming – it’s just looking more closely at the pixels.

        It’s probably because I’ve used the zoom! Didn’t think of that before … that it’s a digital zoom. I’ve zoomed a lot 🙂
        Most of the time I’ve just used the ordinary camera in the phone … today I used something called Snapseed.
