Morris Men Dancing In Edinburgh – Video

But First, A Word About The Whale Jawbone

On my way into town yesterday I photographed the whale jawbone arch I mentioned in my article from a couple of days ago about Cherry Blossom in the Meadows in Edinburgh.

I had my iPhone with me, and this photo of the jawbone arch and the following ones of the Morris Men and the video are all taken with that.

Morris Men

The Morris Men in the following photographs are from Coventry and belong to the North West Clog style of Morris Men dancing.

This style originated from the mill workers who wore clogs in their daily work.

These Morris Men were just one of the groups of dancers. There were others (not as colourful as these Morris Dancers) and the various groups were having a get-together outside the Golf Tavern on Bruntsfield Links next to the Meadows in Edinburgh.

[ More about Brunstfield Links in future articles ]

And this gentleman gave me the information about his group when we got talking after I photographed him to capture his headgear.

  1. If you didn’t know what it was, it looks pretty nice [the jaw bone].

Those dancers were cool … dancing in the street like that! Were the flowers in the headgear real or artificial?

…and you’re so right about the best camera 😉

    1. Fake flowers, I think. I thought the rhythm was great – I kept watching the man with the beard – he seemed like a very experienced dancer 🙂

  2. Dancing in the street sounds great to me. 🙂

P.S. I like the theme change – big time.

    1. Just got back from the USA – sorry for the long time to approve your comment. Dancing in the street reminds me of a quote from a long time ago – ‘If I can’t dance, it’s not my revolution.’ – always liked that. 🙂
