The color teal is up for discussion. I say that because if I google for it, I can find a lot of contenders claiming that they have the one true original correct and not-to-be-mistaken-for-others, teal.

We can agree that it has elements of blue and green in it.

So how did the Marbled Teal get its name?

I don’t see much teal.

It’s a mystery to me. 😉

  1. I don’t think we have these guys here. We do have green-winged teal. The green part is only seen in flight, but they have a green eye-patch like the male wigeon.

    Don’t know about the teal in those either..

    1. The Teal I am most familiar with has the big teal-coloured eye patch like you mention. Kind of like a huge Cleopatra eye-shadow with black edging.

    Green eyes are really fun to work with. They have such a wide color range from turqouise to chartreuse to forest green to bright light green and on and on.
