They are both crops from the full image. I am very happy with the Nikon 70-300mm. I read it was soft at 300mm,but I have been pleasantly surprised with its performance.
We have fallow deer too, they are beautiful and surprisingly tame. Your llama shot is great, we have alpaca and I have to pick my days when they cooperate for a photo!

I have that too 70-300mm, and I like it, but I use the 18-200mm more..
