No More ReBlogging For The Time Being

Evarlese – a member of the Automattic WordPress team – commented on September 9th this year in a forum discussion:

We’ve disabled the “Reblog” feature at the moment to help improve its functionality in the future. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in the meantime!

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I know a number of people (including TimeThief from the excellent OneCoolSiteBloggingTips) disliked reblogging and thought it amounted to content theft. It is hard to disagree with that when large chunks of content are taken.

Rob Crilly

I am passing along that in the ‘interesting’ times in which we live, Rob Crilly – a British journalist in Pakistan – has something to say in his blog South Of West about the situation there.

  1. I still see the reblog feature on my subscription page?

    1. Mmm.. I also can see it when I look at the individual posts that I follow. [ http://wordpress.com/#!/read/likes/ ]

I clicked on one and the reblog worked. So I have to modify what I understood to be the case before reading your astute observation.

By the way, I took at look at the list of blogs that I follow and yours was not there. But when I went to your blog it was marked that I was following it. So I unfollowed and then followed it, and now it shows up in my list.

      1. Reblog is still present. It appears that it was only a proposal, which was not implemented.

        1. If I recall correctly, they dropped it for a short while and then started it again.

The idea of facilitating the replication of content with ‘one click’ seems contrary to the declared aims of WordPress.
