Ochre Houses In Copenhagen

The ochre-coloured houses in Copenhagen are known as Nyboder houses, from the naval barracks of that name. They were built in the 17th century to house naval personnel and their families. I took this shot for the bike and the cobblestones.

To photograph long rows of these houses meant including the fact that they were digging up the roads so the roadworks are in this next shot.

Tamara and I didn’t set out to find these houses. We just came across them walking from where we were staying to the metro station. And they are such a pleasure to see.
