Platform 9 3/4

Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station London with sign and Stacked luggage

It is rare to get a clear shot of Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station London.

There are crowds of people just out of shot. They want to have their photos taken. And as Tamara has remarked several times, the crowds are there every time we pass. It doesn’t matter what time of day or evening – the crowds are there..

The process for having your photo taken here is that you put on a scarf. Then you stand on one leg holding a wand pointing at the Platform 9 3/4 sign,

The idea is that the official photo will show your scarf waving in the breeze.

In the photo here, the official photographer is the woman with the jeans and red top standing on the right.

The man with the scarf is the partner of the woman by the wall. Behind him you can see another woman. She was holding the other end of the scarf.

I snapped my photo just after she let go of the scarf.

I didn’t watch the scarf; I watched the flash go off on the woman’s camera.

    1. Thank you for the information. Well received because I am not versed in the Hogwarts ensemble.

      1. Nor am I particularly well versed in these things David (and reading the books aloud happened oh so many years ago now…) but from both books and movies, Harry Potter and his closest mates were often seen going about draped in the wide-striped scarves of their House Colours…
Here’s an information-packed article I came across just now:

        1. Thanks for this – now I see that there is a thread of classical understanding in Harry Potter – the four humors etc. (I have never read a Harry Potter book.)
