Platycarya strobilacea Juglandaceae leaves

In the post Beneath the Platycarya strobilacea Juglandaceae, I posted a photo of this tree.

A couple of days ago I had another look at the leaves. Those are pretty unusual leaves, are they not?

Then I stepped back to get a view of the tree from further back that in the earlier post.

    Platycarea hmm, I’ll need to go look it up, but from its name, obviously a relative of The Walnut…

        Funnily enough, with Wikipedia’s being first, this actually was the next entry… Serendipity at its finest, wouldn’t you say?

          Botanists come from all over the world to work at the Garden, because of its seed collection that goes back hundreds of years.
