I Spy A Cookie Policy Popup or Overlay

What do I see at foot of a WordPress.com blog? I see a popup or overlay where none was before.

Automattic has added it, and a link to a long and detailed Cookie Policy. And if you click the link to the Privacy Policy that is mentioned in the Cookie Policy, you will see:

We’re updating our Privacy Policy on May 25, 2018. You can learn about what’s new here. Our new policy and current policy are both below.

And if you click ‘here’, you be taken to a blog post about how Automattic is going to be updating things to be compliant with GDPR.

If that felt like tracing your way back home from the gingerbread house with breadcrumbs, I guess it will all be straightened out by 25th May. Oh, that’s in two days…

    Yes and lots of issues with free websites that added it themselves prior to 25 May, because the powers that be decided to enable the widget automatically on all free websites.
