Photography 101: Solitude

Solitude: the state of being or living alone. It is not synonymous with loneliness. Loneliness is a feeling of disconnection or of missing the company of others.

Solitude is a place – a space in the rush of things, a space we seek where we can turn inwards and hear the heartbeat of the place and of time.

The single cup really says it!

Haven’t done one with the phone, so far … I was really optimistic there 🙂

    1. This was with the iPhone 6.

I ran the photo through the Snapseed app and used the ‘Drama’ filter – I’ve never used that filter before.

Then I resized the image with the ‘Reduce’ app. I remember you saying that you weren’t sure which was the resized image and which was the original. If you look in albums, you will see that Reduced has its own album so the resized images are easy to pick out.

This time I saved at 40% at 600x800px and it is 104KB, which is a bigger file size than I usually save at. If I were saving to a self-hosted site, I wouldn’t save at that file size – too big!

You should have a go with your iPhone 6Plus!

Soooo … you went for the 6! Nice, huh!

I have yet to re-install Snapseed. After you wrote that post, I’ve made a point of compressing, and I shudder to think of all the huge files that are already in my blog. Too much work to go back and change. The online ‘compressor’ I use tells me how much I’m saving!

Afterwards I saw where they ended up with the Reduce app.

        1. Yes, the 6. It has taken me more than two weeks to come to terms with the size!

Oh dear … I thought it felt heavenly, right away!

        3. I thiught about taking it back… Horror!

It must have something to do with the one-hand-thing.

I’ve purchased Genesis [again]. Last time I turned it back. At that point in time, I hadn’t, fully, grasped the concept of child themes, so I screwed it up completely. Now it’s good.

        5. I look forward to seeing what you come up with 🙂
