Street

on-the-street

This post is for day two of Photography 101. The brief is to “capture an establishing shot of a street scene in your neighborhood — or someplace new.’

This is Edinburgh in the rain – which means it could be any day of the year. The woman holding the mannequin was friendly when I smiled to tell her I wanted to take a photo.

  1. Interesting street scene in Edinburgh, I love the main subject with the mannequin!

It doesn’t look very cold, so any day of the year? Or perhaps Edinburghians (?) are inured to the cold? Another lovely vanishing horizon shot.

I had all kinds of questions about shooting an “establishing shot”. If nothing else, this course will increase my photography vocabulary. 🙂

    1. Native Scots have a higher amount of brown fat in their systems, so they burn energy. I stand shivering in my jacket and gloves while those hardy Scots are dressed like it’s a Spring day. 🙂

I didn’t take an ‘establishing’ scene. The responsibility of taking this course seriously don’t mesh well for me with the demand to take a photo every day. I can think of what an establishing shot would be for Edinburgh – but I didn’t have time to get there to take it.
