Cropping Photos

In my last post, on Perspective Compression, I said that if we take a photo with a wide angle lens like a 16mm then we have to get very close to fill the frame.

But if we stand back and crop the photo it is not like zooming in and moving the camera nearer the subject even though it looks like it.

Instead we see that there is still no distortion from cropping. Whatever perspective compression was in the scene is still maintained when we isolates a section of the scene.
