Modern tube stations hide all the wiring and cables and pipes behind a facade. At Baker Street station it’s all on view.
Maybe it’s because Baker Street station is the oldest tube station on the London Underground, and opened on January 10, 1863, as part of the Metropolitan Railway.
In those days the trains were coal fired and to stop passengers dying from the fumes, ventilation shafts were dug every so often along the line. You can still see these dotted about London and my aim is to track one down and photograph it.
