Like Girl With A Pearl Earring

Have you seen the film Girl with a Pearl Earring? It is hard to believe that it showed in 2003. How time flies, faster and faster.

It was the ‘breakout’ role for Scarlett Johansson, who played a servant in the household of the Dutch painter Vermeer. He was played by Colin Firth, and the setting is the time when Vermeer painted Girl with a Pearl Earring. This was in Delft in the mid 1600s, and at the beginning of the film we see a scene of Delft then.

That came to mind when seeing this canal in Amsterdam. Again it is the very human size of the buildings that appeal.
