According to Wikipedia the horses sculpture by Rudy Weller is named and represents The Horses of Helios – Aethon, Eous, Phlegon, and Pyrois. They are the four horses of Helios, Greek god of the sun.
The sculpture is located at 34 Haymarket, London W1J 9HR near Piccadilly Circus and a good spot for tourists to sit and lounge – and as you can see, it is a good place to lay down in someone’s arms.
For me the location is great because I can appear to be looking at the horses while really the people are what interests me.
It tickles me how quickly scenes change. Notice the man with the shorts and glasses, who turned around and suddenly he is right in the shot. Is he related to the others? Are they part of a group? The woman in white with the white hat has a stick over her shoulders. it has a little flag on the end, which means she is the tour leader. But from where? I think they are all one group and they are Italian.
By the way, these are shot with the Ricoh GRIII that, for the one hundredth time – does not have a viewfinder. So It was all shot from the hip.
