Last Monday I went to Kew Gardens to photograph bluebells. It’s a lot easier to get to the Gardens now that we are living in London.
Kew is in the far west of London but it is just a hop, skip, and a jump compared to when we lived in Cambridge and came into London for the day.
Meanwhile, on a recent visit to Kew, the staff told Tamara and I that when the bluebells came out they would be in the woodland in the north-west corner of the Gardens.
And so they were.
Truth is I was hoping for a dense carpet stretching into the distance beneath the trees. In fact it was not that easy to get a shot, because the bluebells were not so dense.
It was also difficult because it was near the middle of the day and the sun was shining brightly.
Nature is much kinder to the camera when the light is more even and slanting in at an angle – so early morning or towards dusk.
Be that as it may, I took some photos. And this is one of them.
Interestingly, it is more or less the same shot as Kew Gardens used in their members’ newsletter I received today.
