St. James’s

Hertford House in Manchester Square in London, houses The Wallace Collection.

The Wallace Collection is open to the public and free to enter. There are a couple of Rembrandts and paintings by other Dutch artists, some Canalettos, and assorted Italian art. The armoury has pieces from Europe and as far as the Far East.

Behind Hertford House, is St. James’s Roman Catholic Church, on a street named Spanish Place.

To the side of the church is Manchester Street and off that street is Manchester Mews, down which I wandered.

And there, looking like something from an Eastern European city was the back of St James’s.

The main door is on George Street, and inside the church the layout is tall, narrow, and pleasant.
