Daunt Books Bookshop

Daunt Books has about seven shops in London and this is a view looking down from the gallery onto the ground floor of Daunt Books at 83-84 Marylebone High Street, London W1U 4QW.

This is the rear half of the shop, with an equivalent length to the entrance. There are three floors, the upper gallery where Tamara and I are standing, the ground floor, and then behind the woman with the dark top standing nearest the camera you can see the skylights for the basement of the shop.

Tamara was looking for a map of London, so we searched through that section and besides maps we saw books we had never seen from any other bookseller. Score one for independent bookshops.

Marylebone High Street is a lovely street with lots of small shops. It runs south From Marylebone Road, parallel to Baker Street, to the south of The Regent’s Park.

The ‘regent’ in The Regent’s Park is the prince who became George IV. The park belongs to the Crown, having been confiscated from the clergy in the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII in the 1500s.
