Well, I Did It

A few days ago I wrote ‘No Going Back From A Block Theme‘ because the Glen theme I was using is built on a discontinued WordPress model. The new thing in WordPress is Block themes. And I have now changed theme to TwentyTwenty-Five, which is a Block theme. It uses FSE or full site editing.

I think full site editing is a pain in the neck because changing elements is neither clear nor intuitive.

Maybe I will think differently in a little while because I managed to clean up the navigation and get the typography the way I want it.

The best way I can think of to describe the difference in using the Customiser in non-Block themes is that the changes you make are all on one level.

With Block themes you go up and down levels. The navigation is in a bedroom on the second floor. To change the look of text throughout the site you go down to the basement and into a little pantry.

And when you want to change something you are not quite sure whether you should be on the ground floor, the basement or in that little room on the first floor, the one with the door standing slightly ajar.

Sorry if that is not clear, but perhaps you get a flavour of it.
