Batsman Waiting

The quintessentially English game of cricket being played on Parker’s Piece. The batsman is ready, his thigh and shin guards protecting his body from any cricket ball. Without the guards he could suffer serious bruising on his upper leg muscles if hit by the ball.

He has his bat at the ready, and the marks on it show that he has used it before.
