This photo is from the Botanic Garden, taken with a Fuji X100F at f/ 5.0 with a shutter speed of 1/750 second, minus 1 exposure compensation and ISO 200. I set the minus 1 exposure compensation so as not to blow out the whites of the calla lilies.
The Botanic Garden has some fine specimens of calla lilies. When we visited South Africa we saw men by the side of the road holding bunches they had cut from the wild patches of flowers. I wonder how they keep a balance between satisfying the needs of people buy them, and not destroying the places where the lilies grow.
The natural environment in Britain suffers badly from a disregard of its requirements for sustainability. Water companies pour untreated effluent into the rivers. Farmers let fertiliser run off into the streams and rivers. Developers invade habitats including those supposedly protected. It’s a mess and it hurts me because it spoils my pleasure.
A loose group of every kind of nature organisation you can think of has come together to march to the Houses Of Parliament to demand the nature is restored.
Here is one of the posters, and if you can make it on 22 June, here is the link to the website for details of where to meet, the route, the objectives, and what you might like to do as a volunteer.
