These were are the Cambridge Botanic Garden yesterday, 9 February 2024, in the open (I mean not in a greenhouse). The flowers are about 4cm (about 2 inches) tall.
The Royal Horticultural Society website says that they flower in late winter, into early Spring. The official beginning of Spring in the UK is overnight on Wednesday, 20 Mar 2024.
The weather yesterday ‘broke’, as in it was sunny and noticeably warmer and followed a day of heavy rain. I doubt that the crocuses were out the day before because they are very delicate and heavy rain would have flattened them. I have seen that before with ‘normal’ crocuses, where a day of rain hits the petals and bend and break them off.
