Pony And Trap In Cambridge

There were about five pony and trap ( how do I write the plural of a pony and trap? ) – I will call then ‘vehicles’ and they were riding through the centre of Cambridge just now; I see the ponies and traps (does that look correct?) in different parts of the city now and again, and I take some pleasure in their attitude of going against the flow and showing off their freedom. It’s obvious they are closer too nature, closer to the real world one could say.

I just happened upon them as they came up the street and I held the camera at waist height and judge where it was pointing – and it worked out OK. Ricoh GRIII, and the metadata tells me I shot at f1 45 at 1/2000 second and ISO 250.

  1. We’d call what you’re showing here, a racing sulky in Ontario David

    1. That’s good to learn. Thank you. I thought of the word ‘sulk’ but never imagined it actually had anything to do with the sulky. I don\t know whether you know about the origin of the word, but I looked it up in Wiki and it says “They are reputedly called “sulkies” because the driver must prefer to be alone.” 🙂

      1. Lol, as they’re used for racing Standard Breds, I think it may also have something to do with going faster; )
