Sony A7 III Test

The idea was to test the high ISO capability of the camera and the shop let me shoot on the street with the lens that happened to be on the demo camera. It’s a 16-35mm lens and this shot was zoomed to 28mm. As you can see, the shot captured a lot of brickwork, (and the news that nobody likes you).

I shot at 3200 ISO at 1.500th of a second at f5. I really wanted to try a longer lens but when I cropped to see the face, I was impressed. I can see the separation of the hairs on the mans’ head. So a good lens on a camera with a good sensor and good capability at high-ish ISO.

I processed the shot twice. The first time I didn’t apply any noise reduction. The second time I applied a little bit of luminance and colour noise reduction. The two crops here are, first without and then with noise reduction.

Pretty impressive considering that the crop is just a small part of the frame.

It’s enough that I want to try more full frame models – the Canon R6 and the Nikon Z6.
