Dahlia and Leaves

Photographed a couple of days ago in the grounds of Christ’s College Cambridge. Shot with a Fuji X-E3 with 28mm f2.8 lens.

Soggy Shutter Release

It has taken me ages to consciously recognise that the Fuji X-E3 has a soggy shutter release. The X-T2 has a shutter that releases almost before you realise it. Even the little Olympus XA-2 film camera I bought a few days ago has a crisper shutter release. The old Nikon D70 that sits on the printer has a crisp shutter release with an almost audible sigh.

But the X-E3 has a travel of a a few tenths of a millimetre before it bottoms out, resists my finger and then with a bit more push, finally releases. How has it taken me so long to become conscious of this instead of wandering camera in hand with a vague feeling of displeasure?

  1. ‘Tis the Season… for Dahlia!
    Truly lovely, dark and deep!
And why these words suddenly come to me in association with your photo? Source: https://www.poetryoutloud.org/poem/stopping-by-woods-on-a-snowy-evening/
Because of the light here? Yes – but we should also just stop every now and again – and not just to smell the roses; )
