It really is. I went hunting on their website and there’s a similar image showing a single tree. I think it’s the second trunk off to the left of the cherry that misled me. Speaking of which, I found this very interesting as well https://www.botanic.cam.ac.uk/what-are-spring-blooms-telling-us-about-climate-change/ because I recall reading an article about the records that have been kept for the last 200 years or so on when cherry trees blossom in Japan. Must go find it again.

Interesting – and the argument about interpreting temperature records when the built environment has encroached on the landscape is also interesting – and problematic. The Stephenson’s box in a field at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden is not immune from it because there are now tall office buildings just a hundred metres away.
