The Library At Downing College

There’s something about this building – every time I pass it and every time I see the photo there is something about it that I like.

It’s the college library in the grounds of Downing College.

And there is something about the location of the college that is different from most of the other Cambridge colleges. It is on Regent Street towards the south of the city, rather than in the heart of the city like the other colleges. It was founded in 1800, which makes it several hundred years younger than most of the other colleges.

According to its website it is set in 20 acres of grounds, so that’s somewhere to explore.
