54 Comments Permanently Deleted

I just deleted 54 annoying spammy comments from one of my blogs – not this one. Some of the comments are twenty lines long and full of links to sites to which I would never allow a link.

There must be hundreds if not thousands of poorly-paid people sitting at computers and given the job of posting these comments. And here am I, not letting them past the moderation queue – deleting them in one big batch.

So why am I writing this? Well it’s because I have to trawl through the links looking in case Akismet has mistakenly marked one valid and valued comment as spam.

Akismet has a wonderful track record. I could probably just trust its judgement and delete the spam folder without skimming through the comments. But I don’t – at least not yet.
