
I wasn’t sure what this flower was when I photographed it. And then suddenly just now it came to me that it was a rock rose. Where did I dredge that piece of information from?
Of course, I could be wrong, so I googled and looked at the images. And I seemed to be right. But you never know, even when the flowers and the leaves look the same as the ones I photographed. Maybe I was led astray and they were something similar but not a Rock rose..
Then I read the description of a particular variety (Cistus Sunset) in Gardening Express, that ended with the words “with magenta flowers that look like crumpled tissue paper.”
The crumpled paper was just what I had thought when I saw the flowers.
They are pretty amazing, don’t you think?
