At the end of the season last year, I gathered the poppy heads and stems from the garden and put them head first in a plastic bag – and shook them.
Then I put the seeds away. Earlier this year I sprinkled the seeds in the border in the garden, thinking that whatever number came up against the competition of other plants, would be just the right number.
Boy, did they come up. Now there is a dense covering two feet tall of poppy leaves and buds, with one big and one small head opening today.
The close-up is pretty amazing isn’t it.

Thanks for making our garden so popping pretty right now, David! Amazing what a bit of shaking and dispersing can do on the “good Earth.” 🤩
