Photography Has Reached Another Level

The Square in Winchester

This is the Square in Winchester, just off the High Street. Directly behind where I stood to take the shot are the grounds of the cathedral.

I took the shot because of the way the sun dappled the scene.

Now looking at the full size photograph on my computer screen, a whole new level of detail opens up. The detail is better than my eyes could see when I stood there in the Square in Winchester.

On the screen, looking at the full size photo, I can see that the man sitting at the table has a phone and a charger with a triple connector fitted to it lying on the table in front of him. He wears black spectacles, that are on the table. And he is drinking San Miguel beer.

He has light brown leather shoes with pale cord laces and black socks with an orange-red tab at the heel.

On the next table table over there is a bottle of Blakes brand cleaner and the table number on the stand on the table is 36.

The man cleaning the bottom of the window has a ring on his second finger and he’s wearing a watch and just above that on his wrist he has a black leather strap.

The detail that modern digital cameras are capable of capturing is amazing. With the photo at 100% on the computer screen I can see far more than my eye was ever capable of seeing when I was standing there taking the photo..

I think it wasn’t that you didn’t see it; at the time your attention was focused on the dappled sunlight. 🙂

    1. You are right, 🙂 but I don’t think I have the visual acuity to zoom in to see such detail from the distance at which I was standing.
