
First of all, here is this completely unrelated photograph of water lilies and the base of a tree.
Now to the results from the post: Photoshop Changed: Take This Poll.
One third of those who answered the poll thought that the first photo was ‘better’. One third thought the second photo was better. And one third said they couldn’t tell the difference.
I couldn’t be happier with the result because it means I can happily use the new Export feature of Photoshop to make web-sized images from the original.
Now for the big reveal. I made the first photo using the legacy method and the second photo using the ‘new’ Photoshop method.
The second photo is 94KB, versus 119KB for the legacy version. That’s an 11% reduction in file size, which is very welcome. I haven’t been going back and forth to check whether the file sizes are consistently smaller with different photos, so that will have to be for another day.
