I’ve been experimenting with making images less photo-realistic and more impressionistic. 

It’s not the taking of the photo but the post-processing in Photoshop. The sharpen tool in Camera Raw has three sliders, and by using those it is possible to make quite substantial changes to the look of an image. 

 Normally, I would pull back as soon as the image starts to show artefacts induced by the sharpening, but I have ignored that boundary with these images.
