The .co part of the URL, does that mean commonwealth? I’ve noticed many countries have it, but it doesn’t make real sense that it would mean commonwealth…

Great question about the .co
I always thought it meant ‘company’. I just googled for it and there is an answer of sorts on Wikipedia that seems to back that up. It says “The intended restriction of .co.uk to companies is purely nominal; in practice it is open to any and all applicants.”

Makes sense then. Don’t know where I got commonwealth from, Israel has it too.

Oh yes, I hadn’t thought about other countries besides the UK having the .co
It seems odd now in hindsight – but I suppose that there was a time when it was thought that only commercial entities would have websites – hence ‘.com’
