Looking through photos just now I and came across this that I have not looked at in a while.
It’s a shot of the interior of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem… a wonderfully atmospheric place.

Glad you like it. It’s a very special building. I took some photos of the columns outside the door and the door itself. People have been scratching graffiti there since Roman times.

Yes, and now you mention it I remember that people had scratched their names in the window glass of Ann Hathaway’s house in Stratford. Some famous people who ought to have known better than to deface a building associated with Shakespeare 😉
It’s a while ago since I was there, so I can’t recall the names – but they were authors, dramatists, etc from a couple of hundred years ago who had scratched their names in the glass.

Many years ago, I watched a [BBC] show on TV. They’d found some tribe somewhere, that never had been in contact with the modern world. They used axes made of rock, and so on … they were terrified, when they met the team, with cameras, matches ‘n stuff. What struck me about these people, was that they DID know how to smoke some kind of leaves they had there! So that too, must be in human nature … to use drugs?!

Yes, and I think we are the same now as people were then, and the same then as we are now. If anything has changed it is our familiarity with technology to the point that if confronted with something new we are likely to think it is an unknown technology rather than magic or something transcendental.

We’ve sometimes talked about … here at home … what it would have been like if Jesus Christ had come around now in our time and age, instead of back then! They probably would have taken his DNA, and he would have had to perform some pretty fancy footwork before he’d gotten any following 🙂
