This Is Not A Skeleton

It’s a metal skeleton, not a real one.

It is part of a display at Edinburgh Zoo to illustrate the similarities and differences in the skeletons of humans and chimpanzees.

One thing I noticed were the pelvic bones on the chimp, which were long spatula shapes lying alongside the trunk rather than the hip bones that we humans have.

How I Made The Image

I shot the image in RAW with an Olympus E-PM1, and after processing it with Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop, I converted the image to black and white with Nik Software’s Silver Efex Pro 2.

If you are interested in getting the Nik Software plugins, I recommend that you google for ‘nik software coupon code’ to get a discount off the standard $149.00 price.

Ceci N’est Pas Une Pipe

Not quite the same, because the representation is not of a skeleton but of a model of a skeleton, but the title of this post is based on René Magritte’s painting.
