The first time I saw it, I fell in love. It was irresistibly perfect.
Moderno Semi-Bold
What am I talking about? I am talking about the font used in the logo of this WordPress theme (‘Sight’ by WPShower).
Update Feb 2012 – I am no longer using the Sight theme – but here is the logo.
The font is Moderno Semi-Bold.
How do I know it is Moderno Semi-Bold?
It’s because my favourite font site – MyFonts.com – has a lovely little feature called ‘What’s the Font?’ where you can import a screen grab (or a URL) and it will tell you which font was used.
It doesn’t always work. Sometimes the font is not in the catalogue, or for some other reason it doesn’t find the font. But this time it did.
There is a whole font family for Moderno, with varying thicknesses of the letters.
I like Moderno Semi-Bold so much that I discussed it with my partner and we decided to use it as the font for the greeting card site we are developing.
It just seemed to speak of quality, reliability, endurance, and art.
What do you think?
Yes! …I understand, and I’m in agreement.

Good! So that question is settled!
Glad to see you back!

I am trying to work out what your gravatar is.
I am going to take a guess that it is an Italian farmer coming in from the harvest with a sack on his or her back. 🙂

It’s a gnome. I’ve had it for years and I love it. The thing is, it’s really, really small … and when I try to use it in places like here, it becomes all pixelated so I added more white space around it 🙂

A gnome – of course!
I like ‘the quack of dawn’ 🙂

It is lovely. I like serif fonts in general. When I was using The Journalist v1.3 on my photography site, the font really set the tone.

I think it could also be «Old Standard TT»

You may be right – but now that I look at the ‘hole’ in the letter ‘g’, I don’t think it is either of those fonts.
The mystery deepens 😉
