Weekly Photo Challenge: Hands

This is an image from our recent trip to the States that I liked before I even took the shot.

I don’t know who the woman is, but there was something that spoke to me about the way she was standing up against the cord barrier, with her hand on the wall.

Nice image. So, what was she holding in her left hand? I may have cropped the image more on the right side to show less wall. It may have made your subject matter stand out a little more.

    1. Yes, you could be right. It crossed my mind to crop the image, but I felt I needed as much space around her as possible, so that included the wall. I often try to shoot with the subject off-center, but here I wasn’t sure what I wanted to lose, so I centred her.

Studying the tile in the sunlight? Shadows outside the frame? Contemplating passing beyond the velvet rope? I could spend much time studying her, studying whatever. Kudos David, it’s a great shot.

    1. She seems to invoke a strong connection – I guess it’s a sign that we all know what it is like to be where she is standing.

Thanks for the comment about the photo, Maria.
